Tonight

Had a quick visit down to Holywell this evening,  the Barn Owl hunting on the reserve and a Great Crested Grebe on the pond being the highlights. There was a distinctive lack of Grey Herons on the pond, and 20+ Pochard formed a sleeping raft in the centre of the pond.

Young Rabbit in the meadow, thriving.

Carried on to Blyth pier to see how my Dad was getting on. Plenty Terns fishing in the area.

  1. On Sunday I was talking to a guy in the hide and we both mentioned the lack of G C Gs on the pond recently. Good that one has turned up.
There were eight Grey Herons on the Pond that day which included 4 young ones. Cheers.

  3. Unfortunately the GCG didn't hang around, wasn't to be seen this morning or this evening, there's certainly been a large number of Herons this year, I counted at least 12 last Sunday.

Cheers Tim :) the atmosphere on that pier can be something special now and again.
